4Kids Galentine’s Day Event | February 14, 2020

When Deanna Prusinowski, Business Engagement Officer at 4Kids asked me to be on their Galentine’s Day Panel I was floored. “Me?” I asked her, you want me?

I was so humbled, honored, overjoyed and excited. I have attended many panel discussions over the years but had never been on one. I actually LOVE public speaking, but the largest group I have ever talked in front of prior to this event was about 30. This event would be hosting over 200+ women!

Time for me to SHINE!

The topic for the panel was Women and Philanthropy. Perfect topic for me. I had a lot to share on the subject.

4Kids is so near and dear to my heart. My parents were foster parents for 25 + years and during that time fostered over 20 children.

I’ve always known I wanted to be able to give back to, so when I met Deanna from 4Kids 2 years ago I just knew I wanted to get involved with their mission.

Directly from 4Kids About Us Page ( https://www.4kids.us/about):

4KIDS is propelled by the vision of a home for every child. Whether that is a child removed from their home for the first time, siblings who need to stay together, a young mom in an unplanned pregnancy who needs a refuge, or a young adult who needs a place to belong, 4KIDS is there with hope and homes.

The 4Kids Galentine’s Day event helps raise funds for their His Caring Place and SOSI program.

For over 30 years 4KIDS His Caring Place has provided homes and support for young women facing unplanned pregnancies. His Caring Place prepares and equips young women to become successful moms. Young women are offered life-skills classes and guidance so they can reach personal goals and gain independence while accomplishing academic or career goals.

Besides just speaking at the event I was able to collaborate with other local business owners to secure items for the Galentine’s Day Raffle! I want to make sure to give those businesses a shout out!

Every day 7 to 11 kids are removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment in our community. Many will be separated from their siblings, live in shelters or group homes, or be sent out of their home county. 4KIDS believes every child deserves to be in a home, with a loving family. It is our goal to see more siblings stay together, to see every child inside a real home with a family, and to stay in their own community where they can thrive.

The way these businesses came together to support me and the 4Kids Mission is something that is a true miracle.

This is just the beginning.
